Math Hands -on design is based on manipulative. It's not just a game. It gives rich scenarios to learn!
Our objective is to bring all the fun hands -on to kids to improve math understanding. The game's activities put the players in a active learning approach, use experimental learning process and Montessori & Freinet pedagogy.
It was also designed for the 2 D game challenge Unity Contest. This project was also promoted by digital school Belgium "écolenumérique.be" to encourage the use of technology in the classroom.
We carefully select meaningful activities that bring learners to the next step to understand
math concepts. Download the game manual to get a full list of activities.

We push the design of the Times tables board game so 4 players can play at the same time. It can be play as cooperative or competitive game-play . It depends of the players strategies to win.

After testing with lots of students, For a first time game in a classroom, we found it it easier to play the card game by just showing the card and how to multiply the two numbers. If you get a correct answer, you score 1 point. After a while, the kids know very well the game. You can bring the action card written on it, to spice up the game and give more advanced rules to score.
To learn and review the times tables strategies, we decided to do together the tables of 9 and 10, As we advice kids to use the tables of 10 to find the answer of the tables 9 . For example, they should do this to find 9 x 6 = ?
They should calculate 10 x 6 then subtract a group of 6, so 60 - 6 = 54.
In the same spirit of developing more understanding, we put together the tables of 3 with the table of 6 , 4 and 8 , so they can learn to use the double strategy.

Measure System hands-on
This hands-on make the kids use the friendly measuring boards to convert units. Some calculations are given for a quick start activity but teachers are welcome to make their own measure calculations and you can write them with the pen tool.
